My husband has had 2 replacements, one revision 2 yrs ago and now a 2 second revision for the same knee. We managed to financially barely survived the other ones, but we cannot possibly survive this. My husband considered suicide. This is too much. Does any one have any options for us?

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I had both knees replaced (2015) with Zimmer knee replacements (Persona, I think). Left knee gave me no issues, but have had nothing but issues with my right. Had a revision done in April 2018 and the surgeon told me the plate was mottled and pitted, totally detached from the femur, and was actually dissolving the bone! Am still recuperating from the revision.

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

Back at you watched the.....

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

Tell me how. And then again on Sept, 28th 2014 I had to replace my Tibia for it came loose. And now here I go again for my fourth surgery to either get my knee fused together or put in another different kind of knee replacement because this one is loose, and it buckles when I walk and the swelling and pain is driving me crazy. So having to go back three times every year is getting pretty old. And also I already lost an half an inch on my right knee so I am off balance when I walk also. Tell me my life doesn't suck right now.
So until I see my surgeon, I don't know which way I am going to go? All I know is that right now I am talking to a lawyer who is familiar with the Zimmer knee replacement and will guide me along the way on what i need to do. So for now I wait and talk to my Doc and go from there.

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I had this knee put in on December 31,2010 Then a revision in 2011 and a different knee put in 2013. I have suffered tremendously from that time, but recently, the last five months, the pain is truly unbearable. I've had two bone scans and two cat scans to no avail. The doctors I've seen look at me as if I am fabricating and their comments have been more than sour. Most of them have been either arrogant, suggesting that I saw the wrong doctor, or dismissive, pretending not to fully understand what could cause the problem because x-rays do not show anything but a perfectly placed Zimmer knee.

To add to my problem,. the surgeon I had used stems, for what purpose I do not know. It is my understanding that at the doctor's discretion this can be done. So what I have is double jeopardy because the stems were used to revise the knee at the same time he inserted the knee prothesis. I didn't find out I had stems until a doctor mentioned that to me in 2010.

There is not a day that goes by when the pain is so awful that I can hardly walk. It is difficult to stand to do chores such as cooking or washing dishes or clothes. I am currently paying two women who come in to do the cleaning and help cook and store food.

I understand I may not have the product thatis being recalled and will result in a class action suite for individuals who have the NexGen. My question is, "What will happen to those of us who are suffering miserably? Will we be considered in future class actions? With Zimmer you just don't hurt a little or those with a particular brand my experience hurt; it appears that the majority of people with Zimmer hurt; therefore, to exclude some and represent others appear to be an inequitable approach to a phenomenal problem. Please look into the matter of high risk among all people who have a zimmer product. Thanks

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

wow i just recently moved back home to NC from Hinesville. I recently had a visit with my first surgeon and found out the left one is loose 15 1/2 can months later. i signed up for the nationwide class action suit. u should do the same. let someone ensure u ur problem can be reconciled.

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

what type of knee did they use the second time?

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

Lavonne, 2003 I had a knee replacement it was looening and made noise, swelling. About 6 months ago it was confirmed by a bone scan that it was loose. I have been on crutches since then and am currently using a bone stimulator to try to help the bone heal. In June I went to the doctor and the x-ray showed a problem then the CT scan showed there was a problem low and behold my Zimmer Nex Gen Legacy was indeed loose. In Sept, 2011 I had a revision donw and the Zimmer component came out without difficulty as did the spacer which indicated mechnical defect. I now have another implant from another company and am not having any problems.

Re: Zimmer Knee Replacement - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I had knee replacement surgery on January 3, 2011, I have continued to have swelling and pain since the surgery, I thought if I gave it a few months after the therpy, the pain would lessen, I'm very active and have a 2 year old grandson to chase around.I finally went back to the surgeon this morning 19 Aug 11, and asked him, why it continues to hurt so much? If I don't take pain medicine I can't sleep without the pain waking me up. If I stand to long or sit too long it's painful to the point I want to cry. I asked the Dr. what kind of knee he used and what could be causing this pain. He said he didn't know and I could go get a second opinion if I wanted. The more I think about it, the madder I get that he didn't show any concern and told me he will request blood work and a bone scan, but his deameanor didn't show he cared if I was hurting or not. His Assistant looked in my chart and told me they used a Zimmer Natural Knee and it wasn't the kind that anyone was having any problems with. I'm more afraid of infection as my knee always swells and feels hot to me, however the doctor didn't seem to find it hot (warm). I got the feeling he just wanted me to leave his office before any other patients heard me complaining that I wasn't happy with the outcome of this knee replacement. My right knee also needs replacement and before I had the surgery he told me that after I had this done I would be wanting to have the next one done right away. I can tell you this, I have no intention of having this done again any time soon. It's been a miserable experience. I've had two children, gastric by-pass, gall bladder surgery, hernia surgery and they were all a piece of cake compared to the pain I've had with this surgery and recovery. I wish I had never had it done. Last but not least I do believe I picked a very good surgeon and he had a reputation of very low infections with his surgery which is one of the reasons, I selected him. His bedside manner could use some additional training.
