I really wish that I had known about this issue. I have used this product years ago to shorten colds with great results and no issues. However, I recently used the nasal swabs to shorten a recent cold and thought that I was having smell issues that were related to the cold. I used the swab, it felt a little more tingly than usual. I have not been able to smell or taste now for a week. This is a bit problematic as I do like using my sense of smell and taste.
I can't understand why this product is even still on the market.

Hi. I’ve been researching Zicam because I lost my sense of smell at the beginning of July using the nasal swabs. At first I thought it was because my nose was stuffy so I kept using the swabs. Then once my nose cleared up the next day I still could not smell. I haven’t been able to smell since. I wish I would’ve researched Zicam before I used it.

I have been trying "smell training" at UCSF. Not very good outlook, but some people do benefit. You "train" on 6 scents, couple times a day, for 3 months. They use a diagnostic test before and after to see if any improvement.
I have not had any improvement on the tests, but do now recognize more scents than before. My taste has not improved.

Has anybody found a way to get their smell back? It has been several years for me and still searching on how to reverse this.

Do you still have a loss of smell after all these years? How can we get it back? It has been several years for me and still trying to find a remedy!

So, nothing can be done now, since the class action suit if over? zicam may no longer contain zinc but it still takes away the ability to smell and taste. It's a new formula...can't there be a new class action suit?

I lost all my smell! I used zicam once a month to prevent colds from occurring since I worked at a pharmacy.

I used Zicam on 3-4 ocasions to try to lessen the effects of colds. I have a complete loss of smell and taste. I can not smell any food, smoke, house hold odors, and even a skunk. Evidently my sense of smell and taste are permanent.
