My body started breaking down starting with my
shoulders and having them seize up to where I could not move my shoulder or arms. Then the tingling, muscle spasms, and numbness started. My shoulders hurt all the time. the doctors recommend steroids for the pain, but my body does not react well to steroids. Sometime Its difficult to move from my neck down to my to wrist. Mornings I awake in tears with tingling numbness and pain just trying to get out of bed. I was hospitalized for the pian and they thought I was shaving a heart attack, i wasn't but after reviewng my medications , and there was only one, LEVAQUIN my doctor told me to immediately stop taking it andput it on my allergy list, and never take it again. I stopped taking it , but the pain continues to get worse.

Re: Levaquin and Cipro - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

LEVAQUIN has been my nemesis causing tares in my shoulders and having them seize up to where I could not move my shoulder or arms. I have. It gradually got worse over a few months. Had a meniscectomy on the left knee. Now I am having shoulder problems and found out I have a torn rotator cuff. Can't prove it was the Cipro. But I know in my gut that it was.

Re: Levaquin and Cipro - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

Just to add to what Vicki has said.... My husband was taking Cipro in the summer for wasp stings when he felt a pop and passed out from pain Found out he a torn muscle and had to have surgery with donor tissue put in the muscle. He has gone from remodeling houses doing all our yardwork shooting basketball hiking and being a generally very active 66 yr. old man to not even being able to pick up a gallon of milk with his left arm. Not only is it physically debilitating butter it is extremely depressing. Anyone taking Cipro or related drugs STOP

Re: Levaquin and Cipro - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

My own opinion is that you should ONLY take these drugs if there is a posibility that you might die if you dont. If its not a life or death situation then dont take them. My husband is a former Marine. He was in great physical condition until after he took Cipro in 1998 and again in 2004. Both times after taking Cipro he had rupturing to occur around 11 months after taking these drugs. He had 3 ruptures after taking Cipro in 1998 and 3 more after taking Cipro in 2004. Not only did he have tendon ruptures but also a muscle rupture. These ruptures involved both arms and legs. He has nerve damage in his legs and hands. There is also the severe depression and suicide attempts involuntary jerking movements of legs and arms panic attacks tendonitis etc. Hes disabled now and has to use a wheelchair. He was in his 40s when this began. Its amazing how many doctors and pharmacist still have no idea that these medicines are black boxed. All doctors and pharmacies need to receive dear doctor letters and it needs to let them know that ANY age can get tendon ruptures and that there are MORE serious side effects other than ruptures such as NERVE DAMAGE. After seeing what happened to my husband after taking Cipro even if I was in a life or death situation I wont take these medicines.

Re: Levaquin and Cipro - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I to took Ciopro I am so bad off i am 53 and i feel like 80both my shoulders have ruptured have a rash from shoulder that nothing ive tried helps i can barely dress my self any more. The makers of tyhis drug should let the DRS know how bad this medicine is and only give as a last resort drug not the first one they give you.my life feels like it is over very depressed from all of thisit dont matter what kind of warnings they have on this drug i DONT think it should even be soldif you or anyone you gets this please warn them of all the side affects it has and you take a chance of do a lot more harm to your self then good.Iguess the FDA gets paid under the table to let such a drug be on the market with all that has happened to people that took tyhis drug it should be off the market i sure wished it was when i went to the DR.

Re: Levaquin and Cipro - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

My elderly mother was given Cipro several years ago for a mild bladder infection. After multiple prescriptions over a period of a few years for variious sinus ear or bladder infections and even for bronchitis and not having the slightest idea that these drugs were capable of this I got what was classified as sick with...oh lets see Fibromyalgia possibly Lupus and even RA all of which turned out to be NOT the case. I had ruptured tendons so severe in my right elbow FYI I am right handed that I have already had two operations on it toward the end of one Cipro prescription BOTH my ahcilles Tendons ruptured not being identified or diagnosed for over a year and a half after the fact but more importantly misdiagnosed as part of the other tendon disorder which no one really xrayed or MRId then recently during a Levaquin prescription I went to turn the key to unlock my car door and injured the tendons in my RIGHT hand. In the past few years and multiple unconcerned or unworried doctors who didnt seemed to think test were warranted I have from at least two doctors mind you without a physical examination and right off the bat after I tell them my history have had them ask me have you seen a psychiatrist Really I mean seriously dude have you seen me walk someone who worked out 2 and half hours 7 days a week a baton twirling teacher who also worked in constructin and bartended at night. My life is non existent right now. I walk like I am 95 years old. It is so difficult to rupture an achilles tendon but to rupture both from doing absolutely nothing because by the time these antibiotics did this I was already in so much pain I wasnt even working yet I also question the doctors that so freely and widely still to this day prescribe these drugs when there are many alternative safe alternative broad spectrum antibiotics that are ntried and true. So to you question. YES STOP TAKING THESE MEDS NOW

Re: Levaquin and Cipro - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I'm currently taking Cipro.... should I be worried?
