Tom - Here is my correspondence to Baptist SE in Beaumont TX. Out sentiment is the same! My cc is now on hold pending fraud investigation. Hospital wasn't even aware of this 3rd party thru their communication/IT dept was doing this. I encouraged them to go to 'google' IOSTLCO and read the rip off report - if this saves the next innocent person it was worth the research time.

She did not have her phone and used the 'Collect Call' option in the main lobby area.
I understand this is probable a 3rd party
contract you have with IOSTLCO, but no where on the phone did it stipulate the charges that would occur on a per minute basis. I need to know what the per minute charges are that are allowed in your contract. And you need to be aware that this company has several fraudulent reports on them and to say the least not a reputable company. They knowingly participate in a 'price gouging'.

My husband spoke directly with my daughter two
times, the first being at approximately 5:42 a.m. (10 minutes) this date and the second time at approximately 9:23 a.m. (1.30 minutes). There
were two attempts made in the interim where a recorded message stated the card information was invalid and the call was disconnected. All calls can be documented.

My credit card company alerted me to potential fraud. IOSTLCO charged $13.00 (+/-) for one connection and $42.01 for the second connection/charge. It appears that they charged the card for the additional two calls that were disconnected.

If you can provide a contact name, email, phone at IOSTLCO, I will contact them directly. The charges to my card are being disputed pending fraud investigation."

Baptist East Hospital in Louisville apparently contracted with this terrible company to provide outgoing phone service from inpatient rooms.

When my Mom called me to let me know she was in the hospital, she used the room phone. Nothing in the call to me indicated it was a "collect" call; but, a month later, they sent a bill for more than $60 for the 20-minute call.

That's insane and outrageous on many counts. Preying on people while they are in the hospital (and the hospital letting them -- probably for a cut of the action) ... and preying on those they might call. You get this crazy bill that you know is not warranted because you didn't accept any collect-call charges. If it had announced it was collect, I'd have known she wasn't calling on her cell phone and have called right back. They hope you won't dispute it in fear you'll put more stress on the recently-hospitalized relative/friend.

I'll definitely be asking the news media in Kentucky and their state's Attorney General (as well as mine here in Ohio and the one in Florida where they are based) to look into this reprehensible situation that a hospital has brought upon its patients and the family and friends of those patients.

Pathetic.

Yep, same here. Boss called collect from this scam co; I input cc#s in order to speak to him thinking it was an emergency because he has a cell phone. The line went dead immediately when they had the cc#. $5.00 and $28.30 charges from IOSTLCO on my cc bill are now in Dispute or Fraud/Hold status on my credit card. The Senate will work for months to keep athletes off steroids but won't crack down on these criminals??????? Really?

My daughter just arrived from Afghanistan and did not have an active cell phone. she called me from the airport and we spoke for less than 2 minutes and today I received a charge for $40.48. There was a message that said to press one for rates, but I didn't because I didn't realize she was coming in and figured that it wouldn't be that much, even if it was $10 it wouldn't matter I needed to speak to her... imagine my surprise when I received a charge for over $40. I'm going to try and dispute the charge, but i don't know if they will allow me to since I accepted the call. What a rip off. :-( Especially since it's Christmas and they know people are desperate to be with their families.

My husband had no cell phone service so he used our debit card to call work. They charged us 48 for a call 42 for another call and a 5 fee. I am do freaking mad. I am broke for the rest of the week now.

My daughter was charged $60. after an intial $5.00 charge that was later removed and replaced with the $60.00 charge for a 5 minute call. Thank goodness her credit card company called to notify her so she could cancel the card.

That's all well & good Edna as almost everyone has a cell phone even though you can't really depend on roaming charges...but there are a lot of areas that your cell phone just won't work...what happened to the good old public pay phones for $.25...today it's all about money & how can they rip you off...sickening.

You should still file a dispute at your bank...this company is depending on people to shrug it off because it takes so much time to get anywhere...I am not a rich person & you can bet I will fight with this company until I get my money back...I feel like I have been robbed.

Your lucky I had 2 charges of $32.34 plus $5.00 for 2 local calls that didn't even go thru. My bank I investigating this.

I recently attempted to make a phone call on 1 of this companies phones at the Hard Rock Casino. There was no price listed on the phone & I figured how much could it be...maybe $5.00 at the most. Well anyway neither call went thru & then when I go my bank statement I was charged $5.00, $32.34 & another $32.34!!! I called my bank & thy were able to remove the $5.00 but not the 2 charges of $32.34...so they are now investigating this. I am furious. This is nothing less than stealing. But yesterday I went to the Hard Rock & all of this companies phones have been removed...they never should have been allowed in there in the first place...I want my money back & if I don't get it back I would like to join into this lawsuit. And they give don't give you anyway to reach them the posted a phone number on my bank statement 800-826 & then the last 4 digits of my bank card!!!

same here, 5 dollar charge then 38.75. I filed a dispute with my bank, hopefully i will be seeing a full refund. its sad that there are complaints going back a far as three years and no one can stop them. where are all those gung ho ambulance chasing lawyers at. i would think there would be a big pay out for taking out this company.

I was charged $35.35 for a 52 second call, $40.86 for a 6 min call, both from the Airport in Washington DC to MA. l made a final call from Logan Airport and was charged $9.28 for less than 1 min. Both calls when listed on my bank statement (I used my debit card) annotated 2 different phone numbers, neither of which were the numbers I called. So I paid over $95 for less than 10 minutes. After speaking to the Customer support Operator and asking to speak to a manager or supervisor I was told the person would call me back and a request was submitted. I am still waiting for the call back.

Well, I have made a 3 min call from Chicago Airport pay phone and they charged me of $16.92.. after talking to them (collected the above number from the credit card provider bank) they agreed to refund half of the amount after a very long arguments. However its really a weird experience as the guy said its a LEGAL CHEATING. I have asked them to provide the complete billing details in written email/mail and they disagreed and said there ll be some fee even to provide which made me stunned. I thought of disputing the transaction but due to fact that it may take the endless time and had to get convinced with what they refunded. Now I am thinking after looking at these comments, I would have disputed the transaction..
