I woke up one morning and was under extreme pain. My left femur is also suspect, and I am having x-rays every 6 weeks. I live in Canada. I have been on Fosamax for 10 years.

Re: Fosamax - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

My right femur broke Oct 25, 2011. My left femur is going to break according to the MRI given by my surgeon. I'll go in for another rod with nails in the right leg in January. I've been on bisphosphonates for 15 years, Fosamax for 13 yrs and Boniva for the past 2 years. Why don't more internists know about the newest research warning about femur fractures? In part the research is ambivalent, some studies saying that although the femur fractures occur that they are rare. I tell you they are not rare, because everyone I have talked with since my break knows someone who has broken a femur after taking bisphosphonates for many years.

My leg broke while standing in my front yard talking to my family. When I made a slight turn to see who was driving up the street, my right femur broke like a twig and I fell like a ton of bricks with excruciating pain. My doctor's office thought that since my Dxa scans were improved to a -1.50 that I had nothing to worry about with my femurs, although I wanted an MRI since my legs had begun to hurt in the femur area.

Re: Fosamax - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

This happened to my sister.
