My friend had the mesh implanted and part of the mesh was actually sticking out of his body. I would have never believed it if I didn't see it myself.

I saw a law suit just now on this sight about J&J and hospitals destroying records. They were being sued for just that. Best to you!

I'm touched by your story, and I am sorry for your loss. It must have been hard having those medical tragedies you explained, especially watching the one you love suffer. I hope you where able to at least begin a lawsuit against the manufacture and It sounds like the surgeon as well. As for me I had a mesh put in to fix my hernia 20 years ago, and other than having had emergency surgery for a blocked intestate (also about 20 years ago) I've been fine. I never related the blocked intestate to the mesh surgery, so I had no cause for alarm, until about a month ago. I just woke up in the morning and my symptoms were there, as in I had a lump in my stomach and swollen legs all at once. I went to the hospital and now I've been having to deal with other symptoms and fallow up doctor visits. I decided to reach out to you because, you and your husbands story moved me.

I have suffered so much in my life because of this foreign substance was inserted into my body. My surgeon had just retired from the US Navy and I as a Army veteran, I trusted his decision making. What a big mistake that was. His job was to do an operation for large intestine shortening. Whomever sewed my stomach skin back together from this first surgery made a mistake and I ended up with an incisional hernia as a result. The second surgery to repair the incisional hernia has been the issue I have had to deal with ever since. Several years later and many trips to the emergency wards, another surgeon removed removed this mesh that had perforated small intestines in several areas. This encased mesh had become so stiff as it floated around inside of me it destroyed all my protective muscle also. The surgeon had absolutely nothing to stitch back together. All of the problems listed I have to deal with including, I look pregnant.

My husband had a Hiatal Hernia repaired with mesh. Officially 2 mesh. One is still floating around his abdomen. The first two weeks after surgery I took him to the surgeon to get the staples removed. I thought it was to early but I'm not a DR. I'm a nurse. We went into his office the Dr. didn't say one word to either of us, just started to take out the staples. There was nothing put on top of the scar he just left it. We walked back out to the car and as soon as my husband tried to sit in his seat the whole wound dehisced. He was cut from the middle of his chest down to below his belly button, it was all wide open., just pouring blood out. I ran back in asked for an ambulance which was there in a minute. They put him under in surgery and repaired everything again for the second time. He comes out of surgery with cable wires attached to either side of the wound. He suffered from excruciating stomach pain, bowel pain, it leaking around his belly button., then we found out all his stomach muscles were all completely gone, not a one left. Can I sue on his behalf since he is no longer here, he passed on July 8th 2021. He has suffered horribly this entire time.

Go to the hospital that you had the surgery, medical records dept its free. Bring your ID, Go thro records or ask specifically for a search around that time. ASK FOR THE STICKER PAGE. That identifies what kind and UPC of mesh used. It will be the utmost important!

I have had Hernia Mesh procedure for a Ventral Hernia. I have major problem with my intestines, ie: leaky bowels. Is this one of the symptoms?

Is there a product : "Dissolving Mesh" ?? What mfg. makes this product? A "Dissolving Mesh" was used for my Hiatal Hernia repair in 2016.... I now have recurring Hiatal Hernia AEB UGI & Sm. bowel XR done 8-12-19. with all the s/s that come with it: N/V, esophageal burning/pain, abd. pain, chronic cough, dysphagia.. ** My surgeon (who saved my life back in 2012) now wants to do a gastric bypass...which I will not agree to. I chose gastric sleeve in 2012 BECAUSE I did NOT want the side effects of the bypass & I certainly don't want it now. *ps: IF I decided to have this surgery (NOT) it would be my 29th surgery & at 72.... that's pushing my luck too far.
DISSOLVING MESH ?? DOES IT EXIST?

George I had a similar operation done about a decade earlier. I needed to have a portion of my large intestine removed. The surgeon did not put my skin back together correctly and I ended up with an incisional hernia. Not knowing how this happened and not getting a second opinion I returned to the same surgeon who decided to use gortex mesh for the repair. From the second surgery onward I had so many different types of sicknesses I could not even think straight. I ended up going to my local VAMC to see what was wrong with me. My stomach area was so full of infection because the gortex had perforated my small intestines. Needless to say I needed another operation to remove the gortex and take out the ruptured areas of my small intestines. The gortex had ruined most of my abdominal muscles so I now have no protection on the stomach area. I tried taking this surgeon to court and tried getting on two other class action lawsuits but I was unable to accomplish either one. While my body will never be the same I feel so much better now the gortex has been removed. I was so sick during the time I had the foreign material inside my body that I almost lost my life because a surgeon did not take his time to properly sew my skin back together.

Yes you can--I mean, not in so many words, but you can bust any VA hospital/clinic for injuring you during treatment. You can at least get an increase in disability compensation for being injured while under their care, which is not a lawsuit per se, but it gives you some sort of return for your pain while you find a hernia mesh lawyer to help sue the manufacturer.

I HIGHLY suggest finding a really good VA lawyer (they work on contingency) to help you. It's tricky, but absolutely can be done. Try Chris at the Attig/Steele firm, or try the Hill & Ponton firm. They deal with vets exclusively.

I don't work for those VA lawyers, I just know a lot of veterans who say those guys are the best attorneys out there for vets. Didn't want it to sound like an advertisement lol.

Yes, these lawsuits are typically filed against the companies who actually manufactured the mesh.

I have a question. Is it the mesh companies being sued? I ask because mine was done by the V.A. Hospital. Obviously I cannot sue the government.

My wife has had at least 20 abdominal operations since 1998 all using mesh.An attorney from this site recently responded that she was not a candidate for the lawsuit even though she has every symptom and has current surgeons tell her that her insides are so loaded with mesh and adhesions that there is no way anyone will repair the massive hernias she currently has.
I guess it is only the fast and easy cases that they are looking to take on.
