My last pay stub as a Sales Engineer1 (SE1) showed Time Warner Administration LLC.
I was laid off due to "FORCE REDUCTION".
However prior to the layoff my boss at that time in a conference call with other SE's on the call asked "When are you going to retire?".
Then following that in several months I was laid off.
Shortly afterwards a posting for the same job title (SE1) was posted internally only but for Spectrum not TWC which had already merged. I had an interview for this position and the Hiring Manager asked "Is this just a filler job for you until you retire?" The Hiring manager said he would come up to Columbus Ohio for the second round of the interview but he never did and wont return emails or telephone calls. The job was then posted externally for this opening as a SE1. But while researching I also found a position for a SE2 in Columbus. I applied for the SE 2 position which is again with a different department but no one has contacted me about this position. I'm continuing to try to get back with TWC/Charter Spectrum but with no responses from the 2nd application either.

Re: Age Discrimination - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I am very computer literate (even grad school). I have a degree and yet I have been "laid off" four times in the past 4 years. I would gladly give up my piddly little senior discounts for a steady job.

Re: Age Discrimination - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I am 60 and have been trying to transition to a new position in my organization. It has been 2 years and the younger candidate has consistently gotten the position. I have been told they have found other candidates who are a better fit, then find that the job has not been filled yet. My annual reviews are good and I have been a resource go to person with expertise for my colleagues to go to for answers. It is very frustrating and stressful. Older workers may have medical conditions, but they don't call in sick when they stay out all night or when their kids are sick.

Re: Age Discrimination - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

I am 61 soon be 62 in 3 months, I have sent out lots of resumes and applications for jobs. I am qualified to do the jobs that I have applied for. I think because of my age I am not getting hired.
I worked for a Temporary Agency (Manpower) at a company that I liked working for. I was laid off due to the fact that the department that I was working in was closing and the workers had to be placed some where else thru out the pla nt. I asked to be moved to another area I was told that no jobs was available, but they kept bringing i n other workers and placing them thru out the company. I was also told that I had missed to much time do to health problems. I had frequently nose bleeds and had to leave and go to the doctor. I am o n blood pressure medicine and the job that I was doing elevated my blood pressure and caused nose bleeds. I was not hired b ecause of it.

Re: Age Discrimination - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

My husband applied for a job at a company and went in for an interview. A friend of ours is a supervisor there. He said when my husb left, the young guy that hires said...im not hiring him! Hes old! My husband was 49 nut a gray beard and hair. My husband was told he didnt have the qualifications. (even though he had 10 years of that expereince). So they hired an 18 yr old 3 days later with ZERO experience. I, myself am tired of going to interviews only to see someone 20 yrs younger hired instead. I am qualified, articulate and have never been reprimended. My last employer told me (Its buisness, dont take it personal...although it was not age related. i was a contracted worker and one of the person who worked for the client said she didnt like me as I acted like I knew everything) It was my job to know what they didnt!

Re: Age Discrimination - Class Action - Class Action Lawsuit

with social security running out this is probably going to be more and more of an issue. but if someone cant do the job... i dunno
